ARTIST PROFILE | Ruby May
Ruby May started gigging on the Perth scene in 2013 as a solo artist. Spending time gigging and writing, Ruby May then formed a band in 2016 who gigged relentlessly around town, including supporting the likes of Perth local heavy weights Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Koi Child, Grievous Bodily Calm, Superego FKA POW Negro, Grace Sanders, Your Girl Pho and many more.
In 2018 Ruby May and her band released their debut EP ‘KODACHROME’ which was followed by a stream of amazing opportunities such as playing at the opening of Optus Stadium, supporting Grammy nominated Jordan Rakei, twice, south west tours and WAMFest.
Loving to be immersed within her local community, May also had her own Booking & Management company, MAMAROUX, previously managing and booking local artists such as Hyclass, Old Blood, Edie Green & others.
After a few years of processing life (and COVID-19), May has taken a step back from the management boots, doing some backing vocal work in the WAM award winning live acts, Project BEXX & Old Blood.
Continuing to hone in on her own skill and shape her original love for neo-soul, r&b dreams, lo-fi grooves being inspired by her childhood growing up in the late 90s and early 00s.
