There are 2 ways to create an account on Ocean Floor Marketplace.
- Connect one of the supported crypto wallets. Ocean Floor Marketplace currently supports Metamask and Coinbase wallet. If you don't have a wallet you can create a Metamask wallet using our guide below - See "How do I create a Metamask wallet?", alternatively you can sign up for an Ocean Floor wallet.
- Sign up for an Ocean Floor wallet using your email address and complete the on-boarding process. Your Ocean Floor Marketplace account will be set up once your information has been verified.
A crypto wallet is a private key used to access and approve outgoing transactions for that crypto account.
A crypto wallet is in many ways like a digital signature. It is used to sign blockchain transactions and contracts, just like you would sign to approve a bank wire or a legal contract in the real world.
Contrary to popular belief, your crypto coins and NFTs aren’t actually stored on your crypto wallet. All crypto tokens are stored as public data on the Blockchain. Only the person who holds the private keys to the wallet can sign transactions or contracts and spend any tokens in that account. Your private key, also known as a “Seed Phrase” or “Secret Recovery Phrase”, is made up of 12 or 24 words, which are given to you at random when you first create the wallet.
Your Seed Phrase words are the only thing needed to access your wallet from anywhere using any device. That means if your phone or computer gets lost, stolen or broken, you can still access your wallet on another device using these words.
They are the closest thing you can get to a “forgot password” button for your crypto wallet. It also means that if you lose these words you could lose access to your wallet forever. Likewise, if these words fall into the wrong hands you could have your wallet balance stolen. So keep these words in a safe place, don’t share them with anybody, and never store them as a file or document on any device connected to the internet. This also means no screenshotting your seed phrase!
You don’t want to have any digital copy of these words. Most crypto experts recommend writing down your Secret Recovery Phrase using pen and paper and storing it in a safe place. For extra security, use a hardware wallet and add a Passphrase.
Note: Nobody should ever ask you for your Secret Recovery words (Seed Phrase). This includes anybody claiming to be a support agent or project team member.
Metamask is a popular crypto wallet used across many NFT Marketplaces and DeFi platforms. Below we explain how to set up a Metamask wallet.
- Start by downloading the Metamask app on your web browser. Access the Chrome web store and install the MetaMask plugin to your web browser. Click "Add to Chrome" button to add the plugin to your Chrome browser, then confirm the installation by clicking the ‘Add extension’ button
- A new tab will open, click the puzzle piece and pin the MetaMask plugin so it’s displayed at the top of your Chrome browser
- Click "Create a Wallet", then carefully read through the data usage prompt and click ‘Agree’ if you are happy to continue with their data collecting statements. Next, create a secure password for your wallet, ensuring you will not forget it. Password apps like Lastpass, Password1 or Dashlane can help with this.
- Secret Recovery Phrase: Watch the video on this page carefully as it will teach you about the importance of your Secret Recovery Phrase! Next you are ready to view your Secret Recovery Phrase and store it in three secure places so you can recover your account if you ever need to. To confirm your Secret Recovery Phrase, you will need to click each of the words in your Security Phrase in the order it was shown to you.
- Congratulations! You have officially setup your MetaMask wallet! Click "All Done". Your Unique wallet address: now you are inside your very own MetaMask wallet click on the number circled below — this is your unique wallet address.
- Finally: We recommend changing MetaMask’s site data settings by clicking the puzzle piece top right of your Chrome browser and doing the following: • Click the three dots in the pin • Select ‘This can read and change site data’ • Select ‘When you click the extension’. After you have finished in your MetaMask wallet, click the icon in the top right and choose to ‘Lock’ your account.
WETH or Wrapped ETH, is a cryptocurrency on the Ethereum blockchain that is pegged 1:1 to ETH (native).
With WETH, users can pre-authorize bids that can be completed at a later time without any additional action from the bidder.
When a user sends ETH to the WETH smart contract, WETH is created.
Whilst items on the Marketplace are payed for in WETH, ETH (native) is still required to pay for gas fees for such transactions.
- Navigate to www.coingecko.com
- Type in the search bar "WETH" and click on the WETH option
- IMPORTANT: Ensure the token contract is correct! (0xc02...756cc2)
- Click the Metamask icon displayed in the contract info section
- Click "add token" in the Metamask popup (you need to be logged into your Metamask wallet for this to work)
- The WETH token contract has now been added to your Metamask wallet and your WETH balance will now be displayed in your wallet.
To set up your first NFT collection click the “Create” button at the top of the page to get started.
You’ll be taken to the “Add Collection” page, where you can name your collection, decide secondary sale royalties and add descriptive information.
Enter the name you have chosen for your collection. This could be the Album, EP, song track or tour name, depending on the NFT items you intend to create for this collection.
Choose your Royalties - This is the revenue you will earn each time an NFT in the collection is sold from a previous collector to a new collector on the marketplace.
Write a short description about the collection. You might like to include a backstory about the content in the collection, a bit about yourself as an artist, and any important details about the collection.
Provide links to your social media handles or artist website. This will help your fans discover your other content and stay up to date with upcoming events and new content.
Upload the collection image. This image differs from the images that each NFT inside the collection will have. Think of this like an album cover or tour banner. You will be able to upload NFT specific images later. If your this Collection will consist only of a single song track with the same image for each individual NFT in the collection, you can use the song track image here as well.
Once you’ve filled in all the applicable fields, click save!
After creating your collection, you can now create and add NFTs to that collection by clicking the “Create NFT” button inside the Collection. This is accessible using the drop down menu at the top right of the page.
If you get lost and cannot find the “Create NFT” button, navigate to the my “My Collections” tab in the dropdown menu located at the top right of the page. Once you’ve got your collection in front of you, the “Create NFT” button is located directly underneath the collection’s cover image that you added when creating your collection.
Inside the Create NFT panel, you can add the following:
Name - This is the name of the individual NFT. If this NFT is a ticket to a song tour, you would add the Tour name and the Ticket Number in the “Name” section. For example: “Ocean Beauty OFFICIAL 2022 AUS Tour #001”
Let’s look at another example.
If this NFT is a song track and is 1 of 50 identical song track NFTs in the Collection, i.e. you are releasing 50 limited edition collectible copies of your latest song track, the “Name” field would consist of the name of the song, your artist name, and the NFT number in that collection in numerical order. This might look something like: “Ocean eyes - Ocean Beauty - #01” which is set in the format “{Track Name} - {Artist Name} - {NFT ID Number}”
Description - Here you can add any details specific to this NFT. If there are no details specific to this NFT, you can copy the Description text you wrote for the Collection’s Description.
Unlockable Content - If you have large files to attach (>100mb) or wish to attach a private message only visible to the buyer, you can add these details here. You may want to upload large files to a cloud server like Google Drive and put a password to access them, in such a case you would include the access link and password in the Unlockable Content section here.
Select your art Category and Music genre (if it is a Music product), then add the Item thumbnail (e.g. Song track image), upload the song or art content itself in the “Item Media” section, a preview of the song if you wish, and any relevant tags.
Properties - The properties panel allows you to list different characteristics an NFT has within it’s collection. For example: If the collection is 50 NFTs with the same song track but each NFT has a unique cover image/thumbnail you can differentiate those characteristics here.
Click save and you’re all done. Congratulations!
Ocean Floor Marketplace accepts ETH (Native) as well as standard credit and debit card payments.
We will continue to build functionality to support the use of more currencies, including the soon to be released Ocean Floor Music token $OFM.
Gas fees are Ethereum transaction fees required to buy, sell or send any tokens, NFTs or smart contracts on the blockchain. These fees are standard fees native to the Ethereum blockchain and are not received or controlled by Ocean Floor Music.
On Ethereum, a gas fee is the fee payed to Validators who witness all the transactions on the blockchain. On the Ethereum blockchain the price of "gas" fluctuates according to the current volume of transactions needing to be witnessed. Periods of high price volatility usually correlates with increased trading volumes and steeper gas fees. For creators looking to mint a large collection of NFT’s to the Ethereum blockchain, it’s often a good idea to plan when you will mint your NFTs for a day and time of the week that typically experiences low gas fees. This information can be accessed through the website: https://ethereumprice.org/gas/
On Ethereum, gas fees are measured in "GWEI", which you can view here: https://etherscan.io/gastracker
A 5% transaction fee is taken on NFT sales and redistributed back to the OFM community token holders.
100% of this fee is given to the Ocean Floor community via the $OFM staking program. Our staking program serves to support our community of creators, collectors and contributors and acts as a value redistribution mechanism that aligns incentives and grows the creator economy. Anybody can participate in this program by staking $OFM tokens. For more details on the upcoming launch of the $OFM staking program visit https://discord.gg/oceanfloormusic
